The corporate turnaround methodology used in these phases are systematic, step-by-step procedures that are effective, but sometimes have negative side effects. For example, downsizing (which is comparable to amputation) is quite effective at reducing costs, but its negative side effects include hurting the morale of employees.

In contrast, Eastern medicine excels at treating chronic diseases and weakened immune systems, which manifest themselves in an ailing corporation as a weak, divisive corporate culture that cannot respond effectively to a changing environment. Phase 3 (Nursing) provides the long-term care and balance that will restore sustained optimal health to your organization. This is accomplished by restoring and strengthening your company's corporate culture (the immune system) for long-lasting resilience to the corporate viruses that are attacking your company.
